Last Christmas, the Soundtrack to the Holidays of 80s Lovers

We can all agree that there are many great Christmas songs out there, but for '80s lovers, Christmas music means Last Christmas by Wham!

The song, in fact, returns to the English charts every December.

Despite its success, in 1984, the year of its release, Last Christmas had to settle for second place in the United Kingdom. The top spot went to the song from the project that the following summer would culminate in one of the most important events in the history of music, the Live Aid concert. The song, of course, is Do They Know It's Christmas, which George Michael himself took part in making.

The second position brought Wham! recognition: Last Christmas is the most successful song (commercially, which is what counts for this kind of statistics) among those that did not reach the first position in the charts. And thanks to sales in recent years, the song is also in the chart of the best-selling singles of all time in the United Kingdom.

The video for Last Christmas was shot in Switzerland.

As often happened in the '80s, the protagonist was a famous model. In this case, it was the British model Kathy Hill, who in the video played the brunette girl George Michael had a crush on.
