It often happens that humans are attracted to someone who makes them suffer.
We all know it, but who knows why, it's something that doesn't change over the centuries.
This type of toxic love is the subject of probably Alice Cooper's most famous song: Poison.
Yes, Mr. Cooper had to wait until his eighteenth album, 1989's Trash, to enter the top ten of the charts in many countries, thanks in part to the rotation of the video on MTV.
This does not mean that Poison or the Trash album are his best work (and then, these are subjective evaluations, no matter what the critics say). Simply, Alice Cooper's music has reached a wider audience as happened to many artists when the era of music TV exploded.
Which is why, although many argue that they have ruined the music world, we music lovers have to thank them for introducing us to artists that we would otherwise have had difficulty discovering. Especially in Italy, where thematic radio stations did not exist (certainly not rock ones) and the music on rotation was the same wherever you tuned in.
