One of the most covered songs ever!
When Miles Davis, Phil Collins, and Willie Nelson cover one of your songs, well, I think you're entitled to brag that you wrote a hit.
The song in question is Time After Time by Cyndi Lauper, a single from her first album She's So Unusual, dated 1983.
First solo album, it should be noted, because the talented Cyndi had already recorded one with the band Blue Angel, founded by her in 1978.
She's So Unusual brought Cyndi to success, thanks also to the videos of the first two singles, Girls Just Want to Have Fun and Time After Time, which were broadcast non-stop on MTV (in Italy, Videomusic opened a few months later and didn't miss out!).
As I mentioned, Time After Time has been covered, recorded or performed, by dozens of artists, including Matchbox Twenty, Pink, Bon Jovi, Ashley Tisdale, Paul Anka, Everything but the Girl, Ronan Keating, Breaking Benjamin, and Sugar Ray.
In addition to being a singer, Cyndi Lauper is an actress in theatre, film, and television, a voice actress, and a screenwriter.
She's also involved in social work, with projects related to LGBT rights and AIDS patients.
She may be unusual, but with a successful life!
