Journey's Any Way You Want It was released on February 22, 1980, a week before its album, Departure.
Right at the dawn of a new decade, then, and the band's look in the video might suggest a performance recorded five years earlier.
When the song starts, however, we find ourselves catapulted into a new chapter of rock, that of the '80s.
Any Way You Want It is perfect as a rock song representative of the decade to which it belongs.
Written by Steve Perry, the singer of the group, and Neal Schon, the guitarist, the song was included in the films Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle, Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted, and Rock of Ages.
Even some television series have felt the call of the 80s and have included the piece in an episode. I'm talking about Glee, The Simpsons, House M.D., and Chuck.
Today, Any Way You Want It remains one of the most popular songs on classic rock and 80s radio.
