Alone, the Power Ballad by Heart

"Alone, the power ballad by Heart" written on a background with the image of a live concert

To introduce Bad Animals, their ninth studio album due out on June 6, 1987, Heart released the single Alone a month earlier.

Those who know the song know that it's a power ballad - the sappy ones that I like ☺️ - and will also know that Alone is probably Heart's most famous song.

What is perhaps not known is that Alone is a cover.

The song was released in 1983 by the duo i-Ten, formed by musicians and songwriters Billy Steinberg and Tom Kelly.

The two wrote hit songs for artists such as Madonna, the Bangles, and Cyndi Lauper, but they failed to sell their song, which was a commercial flop.

It was Heart, the band of sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson, who gave Alone the success it deserved, making it rocket to the first position in the charts.

At the time, the band also consisted of Howard Leese, Mark Andes, and Denny Camassi.

Over the years, the group has had various members, with the exception of the Wilson sisters, who have carried the band forward since its founding in the '70s.
