Flashdance, a Cult Movie for Girls of the 80s

When was the last time you saw Flashdance, the 1983 movie by Adrian Lyne?

There's no doubt that it's not an "award-winning" movie, but there's no denying that it was a cult movie for young girls of that era (yes... I'm part of that group).

I was a teenager back then, an age that involves unbridled admiration (and envy) for music icons and watching movies and TV series that make you dream.

And this happens to all generations: boomers, generation X (mine), millennials, and generation Z (lucky you who are so young).

In any case, all of us girls of that era had, among our idols, Alex, the protagonist of Flashdance, played by Jennifer Beals.

And since that movie had a certain impact on our adolescence, it's worth watching it again every now and then even if we have grown up and our interest has turned to different products.

Just to remember how we felt in that phase of our life, a phase that we often hate while we're going through it, but that we regret later.

If some young girl wants to know more about what Flashdance meant to us or if some nostalgic girl wants old memories, I recommend this post - also written by me 😉 - which focuses more on the emotions and life of the period: Flashdance, a Movie for Girls of Yesterday and Today.

Do you remember the movie's soundtrack? A mix of melodic and feisty tracks that sold more than 20 million copies worldwide. And yes, Flashdance... What a Feeling won an Oscar for best song.

It still makes me want to dance...
