Skid Row: Grit and Passion

Heavy metal, hard rock, glam metal, hair metal... Skid Row have been labeled in every possible way, but their music doesn't fit into a single genre.

Skid Row were formed in 1986 in New Jersey by guitarist Dave Sabo (The Snake) and bassist Rachel Bolan.

A little trivia you probably already know: Sabo was a childhood friend and schoolmate of Jon Bon Jovi. The two had also played together in the bands founded by Jon, including Bon Jovi in his early days.

In the weeks after Skid Row were formed, guitarist Scotti Hill and drummer Rob Affuso joined the group. It took nearly a year to find the right singer for the band, who turned out to be Sebastian Bach.

The first album, Skid Row, dates back to 1989, the year in which it collected gold and platinum records all over the world.

From that album was taken a power ballad typical of the band, I Remember You.

Skid Row are, in fact, an example of a tough band capable of melting the few remaining glaciers with their ballads... after having made many parents' hair stand on end with songs like Slave to the Grind and Monkey Business.
