Californian singer-songwriter Chris Isaak has released a dozen studio albums to date.
The one that has brought him the most luck, however, is probably the third, Heart Shaped World, thanks to the famous hit Wicked Game.
Released as a single in 1989, Wicked Game initially went almost unnoticed. Success came about a year later, but at that point, the piece took its revenge, leaping to the top of the charts around the world.
In the United States alone, over 500,000 copies were sold.
There are two videos for Wicked Game.
The first and most famous is the one shot in black and white, with Chris Isaak and one of the top models of the time, Helena Christensen, on a beach in Hawaii.
In the second version of the video, scenes of Isaak and his band playing the song alternate with scenes from the film Wild at Heart by David Lynch.
In 1997, Finnish band HIM included a cover of Wicked Game on their album Greatest Lovesongs Vol. 666 and released it as a single the following year.
In the following years, other covers were made by the German band Tangerine Dream, the group Il Divo, Gemma Hayes, Stone Sour, In Flames, Zucchero Fornaciari, and Tenacious D. In the mid-2000s, Three Days Grace made a live version, included in the deluxe version of their album, while Pink performed the song on her 2013 tour dates.
In short, Wicked Game seems to be the most covered song in the world... and no wonder.
